We had a BABY!

Well, we had a baby. It's a boy, and we named him Levi Hunter Franjesevic. He was born on Wednesday November 17th at 8:48 pm, 6 lbs 13 oz. We were scheduled to be induced that day at noon. When we got there, however I was having contractions every 2-3 minutes consistently. They decided that they may in fact not start me on the pitocin because I may go completely natural. But, I got up to go to the bathroom and when I came back my contractions came to an almost complete halt. After 25 minutes or so, they went ahead and started me on the pitocin and contractions came back. After an hour, they upped my dose and my contractions got stronger and a little bit more painful and I was even nauseous. They gave me some zofran for my nausea and then later they gave me some fentanyl to take the edge of the pain. Well, the fentanyl didn't do a whole lot because my water broke and everything on the pain and pressure scale multiplied by about 10. I could tell Tim was getting scared because I was literally on one side gripping the bedside so hard, practically convulsing and trying to breathe through the contractions. I understand now why pregnant women yell at their husbands during this stage. I tended to tense up and not breathe completely and he would remind me to breathe and I remember being so irritated with him. However, no mean words or names were spoken and I'm proud of that one.
Back to my water breaking. No one was in the room except Tim and I when it happened. We called the nurse's station to let them know but apparently no one told our nurse and after 25 minutes of those painful contractions Tim went out to find her to tell her that I wanted my epidural NOW. She was mildly upset because no one had told her that my water had broken. Also, no one then believed me that my water DID break even after they checked me. In fact, they still had the docotor come in later to try and break my water and when he tried he said "ummm, there's no bag of waters TO break, all I can feel is the baby's head" But that was after the most amazing part, the epidural. To be honest, I was terrified of getting the epidural because of the risks involved and even some of the horror stories I've heard in the past. But, they weren't kidding when they say you get to that certain point where you just want to be relieved of the pain, no matter the cost. They raised the bed up really high so that my lower back was even with the anesthesiologist's torso. His name was Doug and he was VERY nice and did everything really quick. In fact, I was surprised he was done when he told me he was. I even told him that I loved him to which he responded to Tim, "Don't be jealous, every woman tells me that" Soon enough, the medicine kicked in and I was feeling so much better. I fell asleep for about an hour and a half. I didn't realize that the epidural would still allow me to somewhat feel and move my legs and lower half. I actually didn't think it had worked because I could still move and feel my contractions. My mind changed when they came in to check my progress and I literally could not feel anything that they were doing. I was so comfortable and I loved it. I don't know how women do it without, kudos to them. By this time, they told me I was completely dilated and it was time to start pushing. So, one nurse and Tim spent the next 45 minutes with me, coaching me through the pushing process until the baby was close enough that the doctor could come in and basically catch him. The doctor came in and after a few more pushes, decided that he would use the vacuum assist to help get the baby's head out. Before that he also decided that he would be preventing any more tearing by giving me an episiotomy. Soon enough, after one last push, my little guy's head was out and then the rest came easy. They quickly took him to look him over while Tim went and watched and took pictures, all while the Doctor stitched me up. Apparently, I had a 3rd degree episiotomy which is a little more extensive and painful afterwards. I'm definitely not a fan of going to the bathroom just because it's such a long process of cleaning and its uncomfortable the entire time. Other than my episiotomy and a hemorrhoid or two, I'm doing pretty well. I have my prescription drugs, my sitz bath, and of course my son who made the whole thing worthwhile. I can't even begin to imagine my life without him now. He's perfect and I love him so much. It's truly love at first sight and I will never forget that moment.

Here it goes again...

Well, here we are again, this time though it's less than 2 weeks later. (Only 1 week and 5 days later). I'm SO OVER being pregnant by now. It was so exciting at first, I'm not going to lie, but now I'm just exhausted and knowing that my little guy is full term and practically 7 some pounds, I'd like it if he were here by now. Everyday I hope that I'll go into labor but it hasn't happened yet. They say you tend to follow your mother's schedule when it comes to having kids. Unfortunately, my mom had me RIGHT on time and my brother 2 weeks late! Hopefully 2 weeks late will not be the case for our first.
Things I dislike about my pregnancy: I'm tired. My feet are swollen. I get headaches. I have heartburn at night and don't sleep. I had some morning sickness. The baby's legs hurt my ribs. My back hurts when I sit for long periods of time (at work). I've gained weight where I don't want it. My hands have swelled and I haven't been able to wear my wedding rings since a few weeks ago. It's hard to bend over and shave my legs or paint my toenails...however I'm still successful! I've gotten a few small stretchmarks which aren't easily seen but I still hope they fade. I hate not eating super greasy things that I love, aka crabil's hamburgers, or eating undercooked foods that I love such as a medium cooked steak or over-easy eggs. I do not like how much I overreact to thing emotionally, I blame the hormones. I have to pee ALL the time.
MOVING ON. THINGS I LOVE ABOUT MY PREGNANCY:
I love the fact that my body is able to grow a human being. It's awesome that it took both my husband and I separate roles in having this baby. I love the fact that I'm having a boy. I love it when he moves or has the hiccups. It reassures me that he's healthy and growing. I love going to my doctor's appointments, it gives me something to look forward to. It's nice that they come closer together the closer I get to my due date so it makes getting through the weeks a lot better. I love hearing his heartbeat. I love seeing him through the ultrasound. I love that he responds to the things that I eat, the music that I listen to, and when I touch my belly. I love that my bellybutton didn't pop out but became very flat (easy to clean!) I love getting all the baby things for when he gets here. I love cute little man clothes and shoes. I love the things that a lot of people have given to us... strollers, car seats, and swings. I love that my husband gets all happy when he touches my belly and the baby kicks back. I love how my husband talks to him and sings to him.
To be honest, I'm just really uncomfortable sitting here and I want to get up and do something, so I"m going to do just that

Recurring event

So, this seems to be a new habit of mine. I tend to only post on our blog every 2 weeks. Maybe it's just the fact that I have this new job and with school on the weekends. I'm BUSY! Trying to settle down a little in preparation for the baby but things always seem to pick up again once I feel I've finally relaxed. I'm 36 weeks pregnant today, so we're officially in the last month of pregnany. I will be considered full term at 37 weeks, with just the last few weeks for the baby to grow and get fat. Not that he already isn't anyway. 1 week ago they told me that they wanted to do another ultrasound because I was measuring small. Well, we had the ultrasound yesterday and apparently he's around 6.5 pounds right now and they are estimating him to be 8 pounds or so by 40 weeks. Kinda scared, thinking my hips won't lie and say "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUSH BABY THROUGH US!" But, knowing my side of the family.... I think I may be alright. Still.... I'm alread becoming a little stressed just because I know it's so close and it could literally happen any minute. I still have so much to do. I still need to find a pediatrician, fill out paperwork for childcare for the beginning of the year, worry about stuff I need to do like birth certificate, social security cards, and I still haven't packed my hospital bag yet! I've been so busy I didn't get the time to take any kind of labor/birthing/or breastfeeding classes so I hope I'm just a natural at this whole "having a baby" thing. The most I've done to prepare is totally clean the apartment (which by the way we gave our dog dixie to my parents to hold on to until we could get a house) and I've remembered to put towels in my car in case I go into labor while I'm out or at work. ....ugh, so much to do.

2 weeks later....

So, once again it's been about 2 weeks since my last post. I will be 34 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I'm loving every minute of it, but hating it as well. I've gotten to the point where I'm uncomfortable anywhere I am. Our couch makes my back hurt, and laying down in our bed is comfy but only on my back. And if you've been pregnant or lived with or known someone who's been pregnant, it's not easy to stay on your back plus the advise against it. I'm dealing with heartburn every night as well. I wake up a few times during the night to either go to the bathroom, get a drink, or take some tums. In the other direction, I LOVE my pregnancy because it's almost over. I have only 6 weeks left and it's amazing how fast time has flown by. Let's just hope I can make it to the 40 week mark just because the week before I'm due I have finals and plus with my new job, it would be very hard to keep up having the baby anytime early.
In other news, as it turns out my job did know I was pregnant. In fact, I didn't even have to bring it up. My boss later told me that regardless of my situation he wanted to hire me from day one and didn't care that I would be leaving for maternity leave. I'm so happy that someone has finally seen the good I can do and my honest and great work ethic. Count your many blessings I guess you could say. Not only did I get this job on a whim while being pregnant, but I'm also making a considerable amount more than what I was making at the daycare with plenty of potential to grow. THAT makes me so happy, that way I can help get Tim through school until we're at the point where he can work in an area he loves and I can be home with the kids... and hopefully not be in debt too much. So far, we've gotten through school debt free but with him attending OSU this next winter, things are going to be much harder. Not only is tuition a lot more than the community college, but the gas going back and forth from Springfield to Columbus isn't going to be easy on our pocketbooks either. It will also be around that time that we'll have to put our son in childcare -at only 6 weeks :(  So there's another reason why this job has been such a blessing to us. I suppose things are only temporary and we'll just have to continue to reach for our goals in life until they are met, then on to bigger and better things, right?
All in all, I've dealt with a lot of confusing, depressing, and mixed emotions in 2010. I can say without a doubt that it's definitely been a hard time, perhaps even one of the hardest times I've had. Amidst all the drama and trials in my life and seeing people go in different directions whether by their own choice or not. I've decided that I love where I am. I would not for a second trade my situation with anyone else in the world. I'm a wife to a wonderful man and I'm a soon to be mother to our first child. It's good to be happy with life again.

Fantastic News!

Well, it's been about 2 weeks since I last posted. I'm going to be 32 weeks pregnant tomorrow, the time is just flying by so fast and I'm not ready for it. Also, I have officially put in my two weeks to the daycare job that I had during the summer. Back in July I submitted my resume to this office that does some medical coding and billing, whrich is what I'm going to school for this fall before the baby is born. Well, I didn't hear anything back for a while so I just figured it wasn't for me. However, earlier last week they called me and asked me if I was still interested in working for them. After the first interview, they invited me back for the second interview 2 days later and then I was hired on the spot. I'm so excited about starting the job in two weeks. ONE, it's a lot closer to the apartment and TWO, I'm going to be making a good amount more than what I was making in daycare and that's going to really benefit us now that we're having a baby. On the other hand, I haven't told them I'm pregnant yet. They MAY know, but because I'm not that big in the belly area they may not. But I figured I should try and get the job first, so they can't hold my pregnancy against me when deciding to hire or not. So, I'll have some explaining to do, but I figure they can't hold it against me now. :D

Too much to tell

So it's been some time since my last post. Tim and I got an opportunity of a lifetime and we were able to accompany our cousin Ashley and her fiance PJ to myrtle beach for a vacation. We considered it our much needed honeymoon that we never got. We had a great time except for the sunburns, jellyfish stings, and being 27 weeks pregnant. I guess it's best to get the fun vacation out of the way before the baby comes. I had to take a picture (above) of the belly while we were on vacation. I'm in my swimsuit but I made sure to keep the belly covered, which means it's whiter than white and my legs, face, and arms are nice and tan. Currently I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant and loving it. My little guy is more active than ever and for the first time ever I'm becoming uncomfortable. I'm not sleeping very well, I can't bend over and pick stuff up, I'm out of breath a lot, and putting on pants, socks, and shoes are a task. Not to mention the baby that is obsessed with the right side of my body and loves to punch me in the ribs or sternum. Thank you baby. I'm hungrier than ever, I love to drink milk (and I was NOT a milk drinker before pregnancy) and I love to eat.
In other baby news, Tim and I just went and registered for the baby shower and I just scheduled my birthing classes as well. Only 10 more weeks to go!

Finally gaining the weight

So, I have officially seen numbers on the scale that I've never seen in my life. Sometimes I'm a little sad, but I like to realize that it's all good weight and it means I'm healthy, as is our little guy. Over the last month, I've also started to pop out, and I'm obviously pregnant to any onlooker. I have to officially give in to maternity pants, because I can only fit in my drawstring pj pants and my work pants (which are starting to get tight too). I'm enjoying every moment of it though, lately I've been feeling A LOT of movement. I like to think that it's his way of saying "HI MOM". I can also see my belly moving now which is fun because now I can both see and feel the movement and it makes it that much more real to me.
On another note, I think we may get by with hardley buying ANY clothes. A lot of friends who have had kids have given us a number of things raning from newborn up to 12 months. We just have those major other things on our list such as a crib, car seat/carrier, and stroller... oh and maybe a house.

TEAM BLUE

It's official, we're going to be proud parents of a baby BOY come November. Apparently, my child is very photogenic and wasn't shy about telling us he was a boy, plus we got to see some really neat stuff that usually doesn't show up on some ultrasounds. One being, we got to see all 4 chambers of the heart very clearly, as well as the brain and spinal cord. It was a neat experience, and I did cry one little tear when I saw the profile of him for the first time. Obviously, Tim is thrilled that it's a boy and can't wait to take him fishing and hunting. We also went out that night and made sure to buy our first baby boy item, a cute blue blanket with the word "baby" written on it with a little truck, train, and airplane around the word. I love it! I can't buy a whole lot now, because everything will be out of season, which is why we went with the blanket instead of other things. I'm sure I'll be stocked plenty when it comes to the other essentials when the baby shower rolls around. Speaking of which, I'd like to get stuff that WILL be in season, so we're actually thinking about doing the shower in mid-october around my birthday.

The Appointment is SET.

So I had a doctor's appointment on thursday. All went well and we finally got to hear the little heart beat. We were unable to hear it when we had the first ultrasound done because the machine did not do audio. Once again, I didn't cry- just giggled. I love it! They prescribed me some more meds to help with some not-so-wonderful side effects of pregnancy that have to do with going to the bathroom. So hopefully I'll be relieved soon, I haven't felt it kick in yet. Also, since I was 15 weeks at my appointment they said they would go ahead and schedule my next appointment along with my ultrasound on the same day. So technically I get to find out (hopefully) what the sex is one week earlier than my 20week date. I'm super excited!
OH, in other news. Tim and I both made the Dean's list again this last quarter. Also, Tim just got a promotion at work to assistant manager with the included raise and everything. Things are going great and life is wonderful!!!

So much better!

As of now, I'm officially loving my life. Wait, shouldn't I always love life and learning? Hmmm.....sometimes. Anyway, I'm almost 15 weeks into the pregnancy, which means I'm in my second trimester. I haven't had any morning sickness for almost 2 1/2 weeks (which is wonderful might I add) and I'm getting my energy back. I sleep in a lot still but that's because I toss and turn a good amount at night. But that won't last long, which brings me to other good news. I finally got a FULL time job. Working for Creative World of Learning as a pre-K teacher. I start after memorial day, so this week I'm getting stuff done and out of the way. Stuff meaning grocery shopping from the unlimited amount of food I've been consuming lately. Oh and school.. *sigh* It's a good thing this quarter will be over soon. I will be in school full time and working full time for 2 weeks and its going to break me down. Tim has been doing it since last December, so kudos to him, but I'm not going to be able to handle it as well. (And its only 2 weeks!) OH and speaking of school, while registering for classes for the fall quarter I find out that finals are November 17-23. I'm due on NOVEMBER 18TH!!! Talk about being stressed about this little one's birthday, and its only MAY. Good thing I've already emailed my professors who will be able to work with me on it. Sometimes community college in is my favor. :)

Sorry!

It has been a while since I last posted (6 weeks) and I'm sorry for that. Today I am 12 weeks pregnant! Tim and I went to my first ultrasound yesterday and we got to see our little one for the first time. It was really neat. I thought I would cry, but I just had myself a giggle fit. I had to calm down because the monitor was shaking and I couldn't see what was going on. Baby must've been like, geesh mom calm down its just me. We didn't hear the heartbeat because the machine did not have sound, but we did see it. Tim was in awe almost the entire time, he was just like "wow, look at that. that's our baby" etc. etc. I think it has become more real for him and I think he understands things a little bit more, like the fact that when I don't feel good... I REALLY don't feel good. Or when I'm cranky its more because of the hormones acting up.
Oh in other news, I've put in my two weeks notice for my work...and I did it almost two weeks ago. So my last official day is tomorrow, but they've ask that I come back in on monday and tuesday to show the new hire just what to do and how to recognize the parents of the kid. I was happy to help, seeing as NO ONE helped me and I was lost for about 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I do need to find another job though, especially if we want to keep saving money for when this little one comes into the world in November.

In case you haven't heard

Tim and I wanted to keep things on the DL for a while, but because my husband is unable to keep secrets for very long, the word has gotten out. Tim and I are pregnant. We found out on St. Patricks day, March 17th, and as of right now I'm exactly 6 weeks along. So my due date it right about November 20th. We're pretty excited and scared at the same time. I haven't been feeling too sick yet, but because my immune system has taken a hard hit, I've been dealing with a minor cold for the past few weeks. Plus, I'm VERY tired, but that's expected right? I'm trying to eat well and stay somewhat active so my body can stay strong throughout the pregnancy. Am I scared of miscarriage?? slightly, but not too worried about it.

So Sick

So Tim and I caught some sort of bug that I guess has been going around. I've been downing bottles of Theraflu and Nyquil capsules for the past few days. Unfortunately, the medications I have  haven't been working very well and I'm sure I have it a lot worse than Tim does. His overall sick feeling is nothing compared to my runny AND stuffy nose, my sinus infection, sore throat, losing my voice, cough, phlegm, queasiness, fever, loss of appetite, and sleepless nights. I went in to work today looking and sounding awful, so they sent me home after 2 hours. What's weird is that I didn't cough very much or have my usual stomachache, just really tired because I wasn't sleeping well. But, as soon as I got into the car I started coughing, and it has continued to get worse since I've been back home. I have a feeling that I may also be allergic to something, something that I love VERY much. . . .  and I really hope it's not the case that I have developed this new allergy to dogs.....

A somewhat solution to facebook

On account of many disruptive things going on in our lives, Tim has deleted his facebook. I tried to post a status that said I would too be deleting mine but I returned only to see many people upset with the idea. Rather than trying to tell everyone what Tim is up to as well, I decided to go along with the trend of having our own website. I have seen many people who have blogs and I figured "why not?" I guess it's here that people who still want to see and connect with Tim and I can do so. The best part of this blog is that it is optional to view for those who can still see my profile. I see blogs as being that place of expressing ourselves and keeping people up to date, rather than simply changing a facebook status every hour according to my feelings and emotions. When posting on our blog, I will make sure to put in the effort of making things relevant and to the point. So, in a way I guess you could call this a "somewhat solution to facebook". Though I will not be deleting my profile, I plan on keeping this blog more up to date with activities and pictures. Maybe in doing so, Tim and I will find more things to do so that we CAN share them with others. (In other words, forcing us to do something rather than sit at home and watch tv or play the wii.)
